I certainly hope dumping your link on others' posts with the statement "This is how you get readers", is not your way of saying you have the only method that works nor are you implying that you'd better teach (me, or wherever you're dropping your link in others' comment) teach us how to market social media.

A post full of various methods is excellent for helping others. Nice writeup and just where it belongs, on Medium. But it is generally frowned upon to spam comments with your own links - especially with a note implying the writer is missing the mark on. their. own. post. . .

I read your link. I have 955 comments and 96 publish posts. I comment 10xs more than I publish works. I started Medium 3 months ago, the last week in May and have 1,105 followers and 60% read rate. I'm earning well enough daily, monthly and climbing.

Contrary to your post, I did and still do the follow-for-follow and it works. It directly places my content before eyes who would have otherwise found my stuff by chance and who knows when. I tested the theory. My first month I did zero follow-for-follow. My second month, purposefully following max-daily, my numbers and income jumped as a direct result. Proactively following, some of those people get curious and want to have a look at 'who just followed?' I also spend time on other social media platforms, engaging with various communities; not just Medium, not just Quora but some email subscribers, twitter, fb, ig and more. (When I stated I am "..just active on Q.." that was meant as only active there because xyz, not that I am only on Q.)

As you mentioned in your post, you sometimes have a mouth on you. I've seen it all around Medium. You pontificate you're the best writer, the be-all end-all of all things literary. I don't care. I can take it and I can dish it out. - Point being, your last comment/reply appeared to be a snap back at me, as if I didn't answer your question.

I purposefully side-stepped it because, as also mentioned in your post, one can tell per comments if they read your stuff. . . You, avid reader, momentarily neglected reading comprehension. - I already addressed it. And your spam of the link was the icing on the cake.
